Erasmus+ Project For Qualification Development
Two Vertical teams traveled to Italy as part of the Erasmus+ program and returned with a wealth of experience that we’re excited to put into practice.
One of the most valuable lessons learned was the highly organized, structured, and disciplined backstage operations we observed abroad — from precise training schedules and wall maintenance to tidy storage spaces and carefully managed equipment rooms.
Visitors usually only see the front side of a climbing gym and rarely realize how much effort it takes to deliver a high-quality experience. Achieving this requires consistency and discipline. Behind every well-run team stands a person obsessed with order and standards — someone whose high expectations may seem intimidating but are essential to keeping chaos at bay.
We had the chance to meet three such inspiring professionals:
Juri from Salewa Cube, Bolzano
Hannes from The Cube climbing gym, Brixen
Ivan from Heliks, Bruneck
These professionals hold the title of Head Routesetter — a role that often shapes the entire gym’s atmosphere. Climbing gyms are inseparable from their routes, and the routesetter’s vision, understanding of movement, and communication with the community define the climber’s experience.
Surrounded by the mountains, our team couldn’t resist trying outdoor climbing. For some, it was the very first time on real rock (and definitely not the last!). Watching our teammates face their fears and push through challenges was truly inspiring.
The team traveled by car — a 24-hour journey one way filled with laughter, stories, bonding moments, and, of course, a bit of snoring. It was an emotional rollercoaster, but we returned home stronger, more united, and richer in experience.
Don’t overlook the chance to join exchange programs like this — it’s truly worth it.
Thank you to the Erasmus+ project coordinators — we came back greater than before!

Kviečiame senjorus prisijungti ir smagiai bei aktyviai leisti laiką laipiojimo salėje!
